Dear All

Action Porty is undertaking a large scale, community-led conversation to help shape the future of Porty. They held an in-person open meeting at Bellfield on 24 August and are now running it online too on Tuesday 14 Sept 6.30pm-8pm. In coming through the pandemic, and facing multiplying crises, ‘Porty 2025’ asks how we can draw on the resourcefulness of the people living here so that everyone is included in a caring community now and into the future. Click here and join the ongoing conversation, if you can, on Tuesday 14 September, 6.30pm- 8pm.   https://www.facebook.com/events/s/porty-2025-online-open-meeting/4927288733967130/

Porty Community Energy aims to support decarbonisation in Portobello. They’ve launched a travel survey to gather information on how local people travel, what transport local businesses use and what low carbon travel options they would like to see developed locally. They’re working closely with Action Porty and Spokes Porty who have had input to shaping it.  Website: Portycommunityenergy.wordpress.com.  Closing date for the two surveys – one for residents and another for businesses – is 1 October 2021

A local GP, Dr Roland Bauman at the Niddrie Medical Practice is one of the many dozens of experienced health professionals who signed this letter to Councillors in strong support of measures to promote active travel: https://edinburghactivetravelforhealth.files.wordpress.com/2021/09/active-travel-letter-060921-3.pdf

Their book-gifting programme was very popular over the past 18 months and the Trust are very grateful to everyone who has supported this. Information about the appeal can be found here on their Local Giving page. More on the Trust’s fab new website here: https://craigmillarliteracytrust.org.uk/
