I am writing to let you know that Avant Homes has today submitted a planning application to City of Edinburgh Council for our proposed development at Telferton in the east of the city. The development will provide 42 allotment plots, which are to be transferred to the Council, along with a mix of 28 new, high quality homes including affordable housing.
Avant Homes’ proposals will improve public access to the site; secure the long-term future of allotments on the site and deliver a modest housing development in a sustainable urban location.
Following extensive public consultation, including a public exhibition attended by over 200 people, Avant Homes has made significant changes to the proposals. The new plans include an increase in the number of allotment plots including two plots that could be used by schools or local community groups. Other changes include reducing the number of homes from 32 to 28; reducing the height of the western flatted block and removing plans for access from Parker Terrace.
We feel we have responded positively to the feedback received and have developed a proposal that balances the clear desire to maintain allotments on the site with the need to address the increasing demand for housing in Edinburgh.
