Edinburgh Project SEARCH helps young people with disabilities who want to work full-time

Posted on: March 2nd, 2016

Edinburgh Project SEARCH is a programme for young people between 16 and 24 with additional support needs seeking employment.  Developed in Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, it is now operating in Edinburgh as part of the Edinburgh Guarantee offer.

Edinburgh Project SEARCH is a partnership between the City of Edinburgh Council, NHS Lothian, Edinburgh College and Intowork.

Through three internships young people gain the skills, experience and confidence to apply for jobs.  The programme is full time over an academic year, giving the interns over 800 hours of practical work based learning and training with support on-site by a job coach and college tutor.  Each young person will complete three internships and gain a recognised qualification.

How to Apply

Young people  must:

·         be between 16 and 24 years old

·         want to secure a full time job (16+ hours)

·         live within the city of Edinburgh

·         have a recognised disability

·         be able to commit full time for 1 year

·         be able to travel alone or learn how to do this by August 2016.
