Police In Portobello have issued a reminder that the following streets around Towerbank Primary School are closed to traffic during the following times and any drivers caught flouting the regulations are risking an on-the-spot fine.

The Statement from Constable David Love and Constable Matt McPherson reads as follows:
"Thank you to the majority of parents who continue to adhere to the reasonable and necessary road restrictions around Towerbank Primary School. These restrictions exist for the sole aim of ensuring child safety.
"Unfortunately, it remains the case that a number of parents continue to routinely flout these restrictions. This behaviour is completely unacceptable and it has now come to the attention of Police.
"Having been based at Portobello Police station for the past few months we have regularly been conducting high visibility patrols round the school during restricted times. We have spoken to a number of you who have shared your
concerns about these selfish drivers.
"Over the past few weeks a number of verbal warnings have been given.
"However, given the amount of offending there shall be no more warnings.
"This means that if a driver uses their vehicle on these prohibited roads between the restricted times they will be fined £50.
"It is regrettable that the situation has progressed to this stage. However, it is a necessary escalation in order that we keep our children safe.
"Thank you for your continued support."
