Council officials have decided not to provide any Christmas street lighting on the lamp posts on Portobello High Street this year citing “repair/replacement requirements”.
The decision was revealed in an answer to a question posed by Councillor Jason Rust at Thursday’s full meeting of the City of Edinburgh Council.
Porty is one of a number of Edinburgh communities to be hit by the cuts. Others include Gorgie / Dalry, Corstorphine, South Queensferry, Tollcross and Morningside.

Lighting will be provided for the Portobello Christmas tree.
