Update – just in – from Michael Hymers of SGN at the end of Week 4:
“Approximately 90% of all new mains are now laid. These pipes will be tested and introduced with gas over the coming days. Further excavations are being dug to allow us to disconnect our older pipes from the network. Customers fed from our older pipe will soon be transferred onto the new system.
Due to the complexities involved on the bridge, the footpath closure will remain in place for the foreseeable future. I will update you as to when this is expected to reopen. The bus stop which was originally closed outside the college has now reopened.
As things stand, we believe around 60% of works have been completed to date.”
