We have been celebrating today, as we picked up the keys for Bellfield yesterday evening.
This is the first community transfer secured under the extended Urban Community Right to Buy legislation, and was purchased with help from the Scottish Land Fund and the Resilient Scotland Fund.
We will now begin preparatory work in anticipation of opening for community use in January 2018. Community use and events will be accommodated as soon as they can safely be programmed, to begin to build an income stream to fund longer term and more challenging adaptations.
As you know we are currently running a Crowdfunder – http://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/help-fund-bellfield – to raise the £20,000 needed to be able to fully cover the cost of the purchase and kick start the work. Please donate and share the Crowdfunder around if you can.
We will be opening the building this Saturday for people to come and see the space again. If you would like to come, the building will be open from 2pm till 4pm, and we will be doing tours round with members of the board.
