The parking situation at Kings Place has been a long running issue, often featuring on the community council agenda. Caravans and campervans are taking up many of the spaces, and City of Edinburgh Council proposed to introduce overnight parking restrictions, in an effort to tackle this; however this attracted a number of objections. The car park also splits the pedestrian and active travel Portobello Promenade route, with no traffic free access through it; the Council also intended to implement a path through the site.
Portobello Community Council met with Council officers and agreed to undertake a survey to better gauge community feeling on these issues. The survey ran from 11 to 24 August 2019.Consultation results:
