Portobello Community Council ran a consultation on the change of use aspect of the 20/00232/FUL planning application, and has submitted the following comment:

The community council wishes to comment on this application for change of use from public house to residential. We undertook public consultation on the change of use aspect only, receiving 57 responses.

Overall respondents strongly objected to the change of use:

(Strongly object: 63.2%; object: 17.5%; neutral: 7%; support: 10.5%; strongly support: 1.8%)

There is clear affinity within the community for the current pub, a desire for it to stay. However there is also awareness of the personal and business circumstances behind the planning application.
