Last week’s Porty Podcast (David Calder’s 190th) is about Window Wanderland.  Find more here: .https://www.buzzsprout.com/71622/6439375.  This the kind of thing we hope will spread some Christmas cheer this weird festive season and support more local shopping and community celebrations. https://www.edinburgh.gov.uk/news/article/13041/spread-some-festive-cheer-and-shop-here-this-year

Local resident and author Edward Ross’s Gamish has had a great review in the Guardian and he has some signed copies in Portobello Bookshop.  Read here: https://www.theguardian.com/games/2020/nov/17/discover-starting-point-of-video-games-edward-ross-book-gamish?fbclid=IwAR2mjnhmBTDTMEm80c9UkWOcrcge-yD5-SQHJSypbG3HqyA9CqHkakMZe_o

You can’t go to Portobello beach without finding something to photograph.  As locals have always known it’s one of best and others agree:  https://www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/lifestyle/outdoors/portobello-one-scotlands-most-instagrammable-beaches-full-list-3044691

The construction works programme for the new Castlebrae Community Campus is progressing well following the delays imposed by Covid-19 restrictions. So exciting!  The steel structure is nearly finished and the ‘Topping Out’ ceremony is due to take place next Thursday, 3 December. The revised proposed completion date for the project is December 2021 and this means that the new school should be ready for moving in early 2022.  More here: https://castlebraechs.wordpress.com/castlebrae-2021/

Portobello Central have submitted their proposals for the community to take over Portobello Town Hall. The closing date for offers is Monday 30 November.  More here: https://www.portobellocentral.org/

If you are on Facebook, you will probably have heard this fabulous price of music by locally based music group Oi Musica in preparation for the 26th UN Climate Change Conference next year in Glasgow. ‘Enough is Enough’ is performed by Karine Polwart, Oi Musca and the Soundhouse Choir.  Totally fab! The You Tube link is here: https://youtu.be/tz8ex7Mnjb4.  More about the amazing Oi Musica and their work here: http://oimusica.co.uk/

Have a good weekend, and stay safe!
