What’s happening?

Changes to bin hub locations in Portobello are currently being reviewed.  While these are not subject to a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO), since there are no current parking restrictions, CEC is advising residents of the planned locations and asking for their feedback.

To do this, The City of Edinburgh Council (CEC) has arranged for the attached postcards to be posted to properties affected by the changes. CEC will display posters on lampposts in the affected areas and advise local Councillors and other stakeholders.  Residents will be able to view the plans online from 10 June 2022 and provide feedback by 3 July 2022, by emailing waste@edinburgh.gov.uk, with subject heading “Bin hub location feedback”.

In collaboration with Changeworks CEC are holding engagement events to provide further information to residents on the new bin hubs and how to provide feedback.

Outside Bank of Scotland, High Street – Portobello

Tuesday 21 June 2022

3pm-6pm

Feedback from residents will be reviewed and considered where it can be delivered in conjunction with the fulfilment of the parameters and criteria as set out in the committee report. CEC will then confirm the final locations and make any changes if required before starting the rollout of the new bin hubs.

When works are about to start on a street, CEC will send a postcard to let residents know. CEC will then write to all residents to explain what is happening and to encourage them to recycle. A guide with information about how to reduce, reuse and recycle will be included with the letter.
