Maureen Child Update 5/12/2014

Posted on: December 5th, 2014

Dear All

After a hugely successful Porty community Streetfest night, to get you even further in the Christmas spirit on Saturday 6th December POD Film will be screening A Christmas Carol (PG) at The Wash House Community Centre, Adelphi Grove. There are a number of versions of this film, this one is the latest one from 2009 starring Jim Carrey.  Tickets are now on sale at Popeye’s Sandwich Bar on Porty High Street, priced at £5 and £3 concession (U18 & O60).

Portobello Breadshare will soon be bringing their delicious bread to Portobello. They are looking for Portobello memorabilia to put in their cafe. If you are able to help out, email: geoffcrowe@breadshare.co.uk

Saturday 6th December is Portobello Market’s festive themed market in Brighton Park from 9.30am until 1.30pm.

All the traders will have their usual stock plus seasonal goodies for you to buy. They are all generously giving to a raffle which we will be selling tickets for. The draw will take place at 1pm. All proceeds this year are going to the DEC Ebola crisis campaign. Caleerie Buskers will be there with their Christmas tunes; Portobello Community Choir will be giving a performance of cheery songs from around the world; there’s a bauble hunt for the kids for a chocolaty prize and BG Cycles will be back with their FREE bike check, just in time to check the bikes before that Christmas run.

Plus freshly cooked and brewed treats all morning to much and guzzle at the tables and it starting to look a lot like Christmas 🙂
