Hello all. The Portobello Pizza Oven Project has been dormant for some time now, but with the summer soon on its way it is time to revive it and get our Portable Portobello Community Pizza Oven built and working. We have a great technical team (including Andreas Teschner and James Lewis) to oversee the community construction (there will also be fun workshop sessions for kids and families), and Earthy Foods Portobello have agreed a place out the back of their shop for us to store the oven and for it to be picked up and used once it is built.
However, for the project to be sustainable we need a core volunteer team to plan how the community project is to run, e.g. how we organise/coordinate the use of the pizza oven once it is built/perhaps turn the project into a local social enterprise? If you are interested to be part of a team taking this project forward, it would be wonderful to hear from you and have you involved! To find out more contact Eve Parsons (r.everoberts@hotmail.com) or Joel Chaney on joel.chaney@gmail.com. We are looking forward to hearing from you and to take this project forward.
At the orchard day this Saturday, 30 April, we shall be focusing on cleaning up the stretch of the Brunstane Burn that runs along the bottom of the orchard. We will be starting at our usual time of 10am and continuing until 2pm. The Donkeyfield Orchard is at Brunstane Road South, just past the top of Daiches Braes – opposite Brunstane railway station.
Gloves and litter picks will be provided. Please wear old clothes and bring your wellies.
There will be treats for all. Look forward to seeing you then!
